Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. 2. Remove the neck and giblets from the turkey and discard. 3. Rinse the turkey inside and out with cold water and pat dry with paper towels. 4. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped rosemary, chopped thyme, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined. 5. Gently loosen the skin over the turkey breast and thighs with your fingers, being careful not to tear the skin. 6. Rub the butter mixture under the skin, making sure to cover as much of the meat as possible. 7. Place the quartered onion and halved lemon inside the turkey cavity. 8. Tie the legs together with kitchen twine and tuck the wings under the turkey. 9. Place the turkey on a roasting rack in a large roasting pan. 10. Add the chicken broth to the bottom of the pan. 11. Cover the turkey with aluminum foil, making sure it is tightly sealed around the edges. 12. Roast the turkey in the preheated oven for 2 1/2 to 3 hours, or until the internal temperature of the turkey reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit. 13. Remove the foil from the turkey and continue to roast for another 30 minutes, or until the skin is browned and crispy. 14. Remove the turkey from the oven and let it rest for at least 20 minutes before carving.
